V&A Museum Residency + Performance Invitation

V&A Open Studio 24th Feb 1 - 4 pm + QTMRTB Performance 25th Feb 6.30 - 7.30 pm

Buon pomeriggio,

I am very happy to announce that I am the new V&A Museum artist in residence in Costume Design as part of the Adobe residency programme in partnership with V&A Museum and MoMa New York.

Victoria & Albert Museum, South Kensington. Photography: Peter Kelleher.

As part of the residency, I will be researching the V&A Museum collection of footwear, focussing on the social, political and economic role of heels and platform shoes across the centuries.

Exploring gender and identity, through my wearable art and performance practice, I will present uncoded and non-binary approaches towards art making and navigating the contemporary.

Queerness and post-gender theories will guide my work, supporting me in the creation of new ambitious large-scale Unidentified Performing Objects, coral installations and interactive performances.

I am accompanied and supported in this journey by the V&A residency and learning team, and by the talented Rachel Sale (Illustration resident) and Jacqui Ramrayka (Ceramic resident).

Our first Open Studios day will be a free event at V&A Museum South Kensington on Saturday 24th February, from 1-4 pm.

My studio is in the Learning Centre area, Studio 2, closest entrance: Exhibition Road.

(they/she, Fashion), Luca Bosani (he/they), Performance and Wearable Art), Luca Manning (she/they, Music).

The participants will be immersed in an inclusive, multi-sensorial environment, and after the performance journey, they will have an opportunity to take part in a Q&A about queerness and mental health - the key subjects and inspirations for the project.
